Question:  I was shopping at a local store with my girlfriend the other day and we asked one of the clerks what new products were coming out and when they would be here.  She told us that most of the and supplies, kits, and project stuff was available now and what aisle to look for different things, then she said that most of the new stuff they get comes in spring and fall.  She said something about going to shows and getting all the new stuff after CHA.  Both my friend and I looked at each other in puzzlement, but nodded in agreement like we understood what she meant.  Both myself and my friend have asked our other friends what it means, but, no one knows.  I could just forget about it, but, well, it has really bugged me that I don't know what it means.  Do you have any idea?  Naomi W., Spokane, WA

Answer: CHA is the Craft & Hobby Association.  What the clerk probably meant was that after the has their 2 annual shows (Winter and Summer) all the new products from the leading manufacturers becomes available for retailers.  Some manufacturers have items that come out all throughout the year, but, especially in the scrapbooking industry, many manufacturers only bring new products out twice a year, and don't make a second run of the products (mainly for paper products).  The CHA Shows are open to anyone who wants to walk throught the show, be prepared for a very long walk.  These shows are very exciting, and a good way for retailers to decide what they want and how they will set up displays and what kinds of classes they will offer.  If you have never been to CHA, this video is a good glimpse into what CHA looks like.  This video is short, but sweet and its fun to see what CHA looks like through someone else's eyes.
